LISS HAS THREE PROGRAMS:
LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE INTERNSHIP
INTERNSHIP/IMMERSION FOR NON-LITHUANIAN SPEAKING STUDENTS
COMMUNITY SERVICE
LISS: Internship for Lithuanian-speaking university students
This program strives to grant university students professional experience within their major fields of study in Lithuania, their parents’ homeland. It is also an opportunity for students to use the language and acquaint themselves with daily living during a longer period of time.
Important guidelines:
- LISS will only accept Lithuanian-speaking students who have DECLARED MAJORS. A CV will be required.
- Students will earn five (5) university credits from Vytautas Magnus University. Students must talk with their universities to find out how these credits can be accepted and if any forms must be filled out by the LISS director or VMU.
- Duration – six (6) weeks – from July 6th until August 18th, 2012.
- LISS will house all students in this particular program in Vilnius.
- Students are responsible for their meals, personal side trips and excursions, and airplane tickets to Lithuania.
- Students must fill out an application and pay a $200 fee. Deadline is open until March 2012.

LISS Heritage: Internship for students who would like to learn/improve their Lithuanian while working
This program strives to grant non-Lithuanian speaking university students professional experience within their major fields of study in Lithuania. It is also an opportunity for student to immerse into the language and acquaint themselves with daily living through a Vytautas Magnus University Lithuanian language course and daily rapport with their coworkers.
Important Guidelines:
- LISS will only accept Lithuanian-speaking students who have DECLARED MAJORS. A CV will be required.
- Students will earn five (5) university credits from Vytautas Magnus University. Students must talk with their universities to find out how these credits can be accepted and if any forms must be filled out by the LISS director or VMU.

- LISS will house all students in this particular program in Kaunas.
- Students are responsible for their meals, personal side trips and excursions, and airplane tickets to Lithuania.
- Students must fill out an application and pay a $200 fee. Deadline is open until March 2012.
LISS Community Service: For students who would like to volunteer their talents/services for the betterment of humankind
This program aims to introduce Lithuanians living outside Lithuania’s borders to Lithuania’s social issues. The program provides the opportunity to work with individuals, groups, and organizations helping to enhance the human condition.
Important Guidelines:
- The Community Service internship accepts high school students after an interview.
- All students must adhere to the program, which includes rotating through several institutions including an orphanage, day care center, senior citizen home, and excursions.
- Duration – one (1) month period – July 13th to August 11th, 2012.
- LISS will house all students in this particular program in Vilnius.
- Students are responsible for their meals, personal side trips and excursions, and airplane tickets to Lithuania.
- Students must fill out an application and pay a $200 fee. Deadline is open until March 2012.
